It’s now officially coat weather here in the UK, and I’ve been trying to find a couple of new ones for Autumn, as my current coat is looking a bit worse for wear.  So, I headed to my favourite websites to window shop their collections of Jackets and Coats (here), and I was not let down by this season’s offerings.

All of the above coats and jackets are from SammyDress; an incredibly affordable online store that’s had everyone talking lately.  As my regular readers will know, I wear a lot of black, and in my opinion you can’t go wrong with a black coat, as it will go with just about anything.  As you can see, most of them also have a draped effect, which I love at this time of year, as loose draped items are fantastic for layering and keeping warm on cold days.  My particular favourite is the maxi coat in the centre as it’s so vampy and elegant.  I could easily see myself wearing this dressed down with black jeans and stompy boots for a walk through the woods, or dressed up with a beautiful dress for an evening meal out with my other half.

Every single one of these coats and jackets costs under £30 each, so even if you bought all of them you’d still probably be spending less than if you bought a coat from the high street!

T-Solar Dress / Vienna Dress / Judy Jegs Jeggings / Judy Jegs Pencil Skirt / Riot PU Jacket

These two French Connection dresses are fine examples of what, for me, a little black dress should be.  They’re classic in their shape and fit, but have a little something extra that really makes a statement.  The T-Solar’s leather panels and pleated skirt are bang on trend and give it a real edge, and the Vienna dress’s beautiful sheer lace sleeves and waist detail look so elegant.  Both dresses would be perfect for the upcoming party season, teamed with a contrasting necklace and heels.

The Judy Jegs Jeggings and Pencil Skirt are simple pieces that could easily become wardrobe staples for me.  Their simplicity means they could be worn to work without looking too over the top, making them the ideal way to bring the leather look into the office.  Having said that, they could also both be dressed up with a nice top, your favourite jewellery and a gorgeous bag for a glamorous evening look.

Last but not least, the Riot PU Jacket would be great for those days when you want to wear something a bit brighter, whilst maintaining that on trend edge.  It could be thrown over a colourful bodycon dress or even a t-shirt and jeans, and still look brilliant.  The cropped fit, exposed zips and emphasised shoulders are also really modern, which I love.

Leather boots like these are just so versatile as, as we all know, black goes with anything, and the unusual details and designs featured here would make any simple outfit that little bit more interesting.  My particular favourite pair are the McQ Alexander McQueen Pointed Leather Ankle boots, which are the ones in the very centre of the grid.  Alexander McQueen is one of my favourite designers as his pieces are always so edgy and chic, and these are no different.  They’d look amazing this Autumn/Winter with tight black leggings or jeans, and big faux fur jacket.  Want!

Now, I’m sure I’m not the only fashion fan who sees this as the perfect opportunity to clear space for new clothes, whilst also making the money to pay for them!  I recently dropped a dress size or two, so I have plenty of clothes that I need to get rid of, and I can’t wait to replace them all.  I’ve spent many an evening lately browsing the net for some brand new, gorgeous pieces to add to my collection, and I’ve found a few which I absolutely love, so here is my 2013 Winter Wardrobe Wishlist.

As I’ve mentioned before, the Autumn/Winter season this year is all about black for me, with the odd splash of colour.  I’m becoming obsessed with mixing statement pieces with something simple, as well as different fabrics and textures to create interesting looks.  I love the combination of leather, lace, faux fur, metal and knits in the pieces above and I want them all.

This summer was all about the maxi for me, and the two maxi dresses above are perfect for a smooth transition into Autumn without having to shed the maxi trend.  The Oxblood Wrap Maxi Dress is my favourite piece from the whole collection, as its Gothic influences and elegant shape are the style I’m aspiring to this season.  I’m also a fan of colour blocking, and the Petrol Cross Over Maxi Dress takes it into a whole new dimension by cutting into the colour with an exposed black satin lining.

One of my wardrobe staples for this time of year is leggings, mostly black as they go with anything, hence why I’ve included Chayalan’s Black Signature Leggings in my wishlist, but his Multi Metallic Signature Leggings also really caught my eye.  The iridescent colours remind me of the backs of beautiful beetles, and would lend well to a dramatic day or evening look when worn with a simple black outfit.

Another Autumn essential has to be knitwear, and Chayalan gets it so right.  I usually struggle to find coats that I love, but I absolutely adore his Grey Wool Knit Sleeve Coat.  Its simple, angular silhouette is just stunning, and the combination of fabric textures give it an added edge.  The Oxblood Cup Sleeve Jumper Dress is also simple, but its heavy knit looks so snug.  I can just imagine it being teamed with a pair of chunky boots and a huge statement necklace.
