NOTD: Avon Colortrend Nail Enamel in ‘Violet Freeze’
4I know, I know, this is my second nail post in a row, but I just couldn’t resist sharing this beautiful shade with you all! I received this Colortrend Nail Enamel in my Avon delivery on Tuesday and as soon as I saw it I thought it was so pretty.
In the brochure and online the varnish is called ‘Violet Freeze’, but for some strange reason it says ‘Very Violet’ on all its packaging. I’m not entirely sure what its real name is, but I’m going to go with ‘Violet Freeze’ as it is an icy blue shade with a multi-tonal tinge of pinky purple. It’s by no means a dupe, but think Models Own ‘Aqua Violet’ or ‘Indian Ocean’. As you would expect of a multi-tonal nail varnish, the colour changes in different lights… In inside light, the blue is lovely and reminds me of the colour of the Disney Cinderella’s dress, but outside is where you see the full beauty of it. The violet hues really come through and alter in depth depending on how you look at your nails. I just can’t put into words how stunning it really is!
The varnish is very sheer – to achieve the coverage seen above I had to apply three coats, and you can still see the white tips of my nails through it. It was no fuss to apply though… It covered my nails evenly with no streakiness as the formula is very cooperative, and it dried impressively quickly. The Colortrend nail enamels have DEFINITELY improved since the range was overhauled! It hasn’t chipped yet either which is always good.
All of the Colortrend Nail Enamels are currently on offer for £2.50 each in Brochure 16 (page 75 if you’re interested), which is a great price for such a lovely shade. Even their usual price is a snip at just £3.
What do you think of this shade? Would you wear it?

NOTD: Avon Colortrend Nail Enamel in ‘Vixen’
3Today I am sporting my latest nail varnish buy – a beautiful shade called ‘Vixen’ from Avon’s newly revamped Colortrend range.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… These new Colortrend nail enamels are SO much better than they used to be! They are creamier in consistency so they apply without streaking, and you only need two coats for an opaque look.
‘Vixen’ has a shiny, jelly finish and the colour is absolutely stunning. It’s a deep raspberry pink, I’d say, and it looks so rich and luxurious. People keep telling me how pretty it is and I’m inclined to agree! I’ve only had this on for a day so I can’t really comment on the lasting power, but so far so good.
What do you think? The new Colortrend range has fifteen stunning shades and they’re all currently on offer in Brochure 14 for just 99p, which is an absolute BARGAIN! If you would like to try them for yourself, you can order them from me by visiting my personal online brochure here.

Tried and Tested: Avon’s NEW Colortrend Range
6After years of sticking with simple black and pink packaging, Avon have just had a complete overhaul of their Colortrend range. The old lipsticks, glosses, eyeshadows and nail enamels have been scrapped and replaced with a bigger and brighter selection of shades, and everything else has also been spruced up with a fresh look. I received a few items from the new range with my last Avon order, and this is what they look like…
Pictured above, in no particular order, you can see:
- Color Me Pretty Suede Effect Nail Enamel in ‘Soft Violet’
- Color Me Pretty Nail Enamel in ‘Velour’
- Pencil Play Eyeliner in ‘Turquoise’
- Plump Out Mascara in ‘Black’
- Read My Lips Lip Gloss in ‘Clear’
- Read My Lips Lip Gloss in ‘Fluorescent Pink’
- Kiss ‘n’ Go Lipstick in ‘Doll Pink’
Now, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not a fan of white plastic products. White iPhones, white Wii consoles, white kitchen equipment all look slightly tacky in my eyes, so at first I wasn’t best pleased to see that Avon had replaced the traditional Colortrend black with white. However, when I saw the boxes and wrappers that everything came in, I changed my mind slightly. I love the colours, shapes and fonts that have been used, and I think they offset the white nicely so you hardly even notice it in the end. The Colortrend range is aimed at younger Avon users, and I definitely think the new look gives the products a more young, lighthearted and fun image than they had before, so in that respect the overhaul has been successful!
But what about the products themselves? Have they been improved? Well, I haven’t yet tried a lot of them (some of the items pictured above were for my customers) so I can’t comment on everything, but I have tried the Suede Effect Nail Enamel and Read My Lips Lip Gloss, so I will now give my thoughts on those…
Color Me Pretty Suede Effect Nail Enamel in ‘Soft Violet’ (RRP £3)
‘Soft Violet’ is a rich purple with a silver shimmer running through it. It is also matte, which combined with the shimmer gives it that ‘suede’ look, as does the fact that it feels almost soft to the touch! I really like the colour and it is very different to Avon’s other purple matte varnish, which is good as I find it quite annoying when a company have two very similar shades!
The consistency of the varnish is excellent, and a definite improvement on the old, runny Colortrend varnishes. It sits comfortably in the middle of thick and thin so it applies smoothly, with no streaks, and you can achieve an opaque look in just two coats, instead of the three or four it took before.
The only thing I was disappointed with was how long the varnish lasts. Because it is matte, I couldn’t apply a top coat as all of my top coats are glossy, so it chipped within a day on several nails, and the ends showed wear very quickly.
Despite the chipping, I am in love with this nail varnish. It’s a breath of fresh air within the previously rather basic Colortrend nail enamel collection, and it is much better quality than I was expecting too. There are two other suede nail enamels available (a blue and a pink), and twelve other glossy nail enamels, including two ‘morph’ colours which look a bit like Models Own Beetljuice range. Now I know how good the formula is, I will definitely be getting some more! Starting with ‘Fuschia Feel’ and ‘Vixen’.
Read My Lips Lip Gloss in ‘Clear’ (RRP £3.75)
On its own.
Over lipstick.
Whilst browsing the last Avon brochure I realised that (shock horror) I didn’t actually own a clear lip gloss! That needed fixing pronto, so I ordered this one as it was on offer for only 99p. When I first opened the tube I thought the gloss smelt a bit funny and it put me off a little. I made my mum sniff it and she liked the smell, so I guess that one’s just down to personal taste. The gloss applies quite thickly, but it isn’t too sticky which makes up for it, and gives a nice shine to naked lips. As you can see, I also applied it over matte lipstick and it really made my lips stand out. It made the lipstick stay on a LOT longer than it does without gloss, which I wasn’t expecting so was an added bonus!
Overall, despite my initial reservations with the change of packaging, I am glad that Avon have given the Colortrend range a new lease of life. I was getting a bit bored of seeing the same few shades over and over again, so the new products have come as a breath of fresh air for me. The shades are bold and exciting and I can’t wait to see and try more of them!
Will you be trying any of the new Colortrend products? If you fancy a browse of the new range, you can visit my Personal Online Brochure here. You can even place an order with me if you feel inclined to do so! Colortrend products are currently 2 for £4, so you can really grab a bargain right now

Experimenting with Ombré Lips
5Hello all,
As ardent beauty fans will know, Ombré is bang on trend right now. Ombré hair, Ombré nails and Ombré lips are all over the place, so today I thought I’d try the fashion out for myself! But first thing’s first, the name… I’d been seeing Ombré (pronounced om-bray) written as Ombre (pronounced om-ber), which confused me as Ombre is a card game! The accent on the ‘e’ makes all the difference in this case, as Ombré, the correct spelling, means ‘graduated in tone’, which is obviously what this trend is! Anyway, sorry about that, the English and grammar student in me had to come out eventually
So, this afternoon I had a lot of fun experimenting with different colours and different Ombré styles to create four different looks. Considering this was my first attempt at Ombré, I’m quite proud of the results, and blending the different shades was a lot easier than I expected! For each look I will show you the finished result, and then let you know the products that I used. I used MUA Eye Primer to lighten darker shades and blend the different colours together.
Simple Two Tone
Avon Ultra Colour Rich Colordisiac Lipstick in ‘Ravishing Red’.
MUA Lipstick in ‘Shade 3′.
MUA Eye Primer.
Graduated Across
MUA Lip Boom in ‘It’s A Situation’.
MUA Professional Eye Primer.
Ultimate Eye Shimmer (Lilac).
Avon Glow Lip Gloss in ‘Ultra Violet’.
Graduated Outwards
Avon Ultra Colour Rich Colordisiac Lipstick in ‘Drawn To You’.
MUA Professional Eye Primer.
Colortrend Lip Duo in ‘Bliss’.
Ultimate Eye Shimmer (White).
Now, for the final look I got a little bit bored of using pink, red and purple so I tried something a bit different and used blue eyeshadow instead, which I applied with a small eyeshadow brush over pale gloss.
Graduated Down
Avon Care Sheer Lip Gloss.
Marks & Spencer Eyeshadow Collection.
Ultimate Eye Shimmer (White).
So, what do you think? Love it or hate it? I don’t think the Ombré lip look is one I would wear out all day, every day, but it could work on a night out! The only thing I’d worry about is the colours smudging and merging into a complete mess, but I do think it looks quite fun.
I’ve created a poll so you can vote for your favourite of my Ombré looks, so please cast your vote Thank you!

NEW Colortrend State of Mind Lip Gloss in Daring
0As an Avon Representative, I regularly have the opportunity to try out new products before they are released to the public, and this Colortrend State of Mind lip gloss is one of those products. The State of Mind range will feature three ‘states of mind’ – Romantic, Daring and Flirty, each offering a different gloss and also a nail varnish. The Romantic products are opalescent, the Daring ones are purple and blue and the Flirty ones are pink. I would have liked to try all of them, but I only have the lip gloss in Daring so will now let you know what I think of it…
When I first received the gloss it came in a rather large box and I was impressed by the size of the tube. I was expecting a dinky product but you actually get a generous 15ml. There is no brush with the gloss, just a simple squeeze tube and screw on lid. The gloss itself is quite thick so you need to use quite a lot of it to be able to spread it evenly onto the lips, but this is necessary for the bold colour that the ‘daring’ name suggests.
I really like the colour of this gloss – a bright berry purple with a slight indigo shimmer that gives the gloss some depth. Luckily, the gloss isn’t sticky and actually feels quite moisturising, but I found that it doesn’t last as long as I’d like so needs reapplying often to keep the striking colour.
Overall, I am pleased with this gloss as you get quite a lot for your money, and it provides a brighter colour than a lot of ranges I’ve come across.
All of the Colortrend State of Mind products will first be available in Avon’s Brochure 8, which I will be running next, in March. The glosses will have an introductory price of just £2 (RRP £3.50) and the nail varnishes will be £1.50 (RRP £2.95).
Which State of Mind will you be trying?
