Batcat Necklace from TrueCutie

5

Earlier this week I received a very special delivery in the post from a fantastic independent jewellery brand called TrueCutie.  TrueCutie is owned by Chatch, who has been making and selling cute, kawaii inspired jewellery and accessories since 2011, and she is extremely talented.  Chatch and I had been talking on Twitter, and she offered to create a piece for me to review based on my suggestions, and what I gave her to work with was bats and cats.  In no time at all, Chatch had worked her magic and made me an absolutely gorgeous Batcat hybrid necklace, and I couldn’t be happier with him!

??????????????????????

??????????????????????

Batcat is extremely well made, and it is obvious that Chatch puts a lot of love and care into her work.  He is also very detailed, with heart melting eyes, blushing cheeks, pink ears, a quiff of hair and a curly tail, all of which add to the little guy’s cuteness.  The pendant is quite large (around 1 inch high and 1.5 inches wide), and comes on a 24 inch chain, so it really makes a statement.  I really like how the necklace sits too, as the angle of the bat wings keep Batcat straight, and the length of the chain means he hangs quite low.

??????????????????????

The necklace is also really versatile.  I think it looks great with bright, colourful clothing, such as the dress pictured above, but it also works well with plain outfits and helps to jazz them up a bit, adding a fun, quirky edge.

Because Chatch’s accessories are all handmade, they are all unique.  She is also happy to do commissions so you really can have a one of a kind piece that is special to you, which is hard to find these days in a world of high street monotony!  Every time I wear Batcat I get so many compliments, and people always ask me where I got him from because they’ve never seen anything like him before, which is what I love about wearing individual pieces.  I just love him so much!

If you want some TrueCutie goodies for yourself, or as a gift for a loved one, you can view the TrueCutie Etsy shop here.  Everything is so reasonably priced (ranging from £2 to around £15), and if you’re looking for a commission you can get in touch with Chatch at .  You can also find TrueCutie on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest, and Chatch will be holding a stall at London Comic Con in May for the first time, which is really exciting!  Chatch is a lovely, friendly girl and her products and service are amazing, so please help support a very gifted maker.  She’ll be making more hybrid pieces soon too, so keep an eye out for those.

Here are a few of my favourite pieces from the TrueCutie Etsy store.

Jurlique Rose Essentials

2

With only a week left to go until Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d share a gift idea with you which puts a luxurious twist on the traditional bunch of red roses – Jurlique’s Rose Essentials.  If you have a beauty-obsessed loved one to buy for this year, or even if you want to treat yourself to a pampering session, then Jurlique’s rose scented skin care products are ideal.

??????????????????????

The Jurlique Rose Essentials set contains three luxe rose scented products, and they come packaged in a beautiful gift box, which definitely makes this set a pleasure to receive!  Once you remove the red and gold cardboard wrap, the box you are met with looks like a gorgeous gold treasure chest, patterned with delicate roses and leaves, which fits the Jurlique tagline perfectly – ‘Your gift of beauty to treasure’.  It is even sealed with a sticker that looks like a lock, which makes the set feel that little bit more special, and builds the anticipation as to what you will find inside.

??????????????????????

The three products inside the box are wrapped with red tissue paper, and the gold ribbon and embossed brand logo all add an extra touch of luxury.  The products are a 100ml bottle of Rosewater Balancing Mist, a 300ml bottle of Rose Shower Gel, and a 150ml tube of Rose Body Cream.

??????????????????????

??????????????????????

Here is a brief review of each product to give you an idea of what they are like…

Rosewater Balancing Mist

??????????????????????

Jurlique’s Rosewater Balancing Mist contains Rose Essential Oil, Marshmallow and Aloe, which combine to form a hydrating mist which improves and balances skin tone.  I like to spray this on to my face after a long day, as it refreshes tired skin and, unlike some mists, is delicately moisturising so it doesn’t dry your skin out or leave it feeling greasy.  The packaging the mist comes in is very plain in contrast to the gift box, which is slightly disappointing as I like a bit of colour, but the glass bottle makes it look and feel a bit more impressive than if it were plastic.

Rose Shower Gel

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This pinky orange coloured shower gel contains a mix of natural essential oils, and like the mist leaves your skin feeling fresh, and extremely clean.  I usually use shower creams as normal gels sometimes dehydrate my skin, but Jurlique’s Rose Shower Gel is actually quite moisturising, which is lovely, and can be used all over the body.  The lather that one pump of this gel gives is impressive, and a little goes a long way.

Rose Body Cream

??????????????????????

The Rose Body Cream is my favourite product in the set.  It is enriched with Jojoba Oil, Shea and Cocoa Butter, so as you can imagine it is intensely moisturising, but it is also a lot lighter than some body butters.  The cream doesn’t sit on the skin making a greasy mess either, rather, it is easily and quickly absorbed and is very kind to the skin.  I suffer from dry hands so have been using this as a hand cream, and so far the results are good, and my hands feel a lot softer!

All three products have a very sweet but authentic scent of roses, which is reminiscent of an English garden on a summer’s day (how corny and romantic!)  It’s a very feminine scent, and isn’t at all overpowering, so the products can be layered for a long-lasting, gentle aroma.

This whole set just oozes quality.  The products are all generously sized and feel amazing on the skin, and the packaging is incredible.  The Jurlique range is a bit of a splurge (products start at £10 each, ranging up to around £30), but sometimes these things are worth it, right?  You can view Jurlique’s range of skin care products here, at LookFantastic.com.  Or, if Jurlique isn’t for you or your loved one, LookFantastic also stock a wide selection of other Valentine’s Gifts, including Nails Inc Bling It On Leather & Skulls, which I reviewed here.

Birthday Wish List

4

Evening all!

Firstly, I would like to apologise for my elusiveness lately.  January has been an incredibly busy month for me but it seems to have dragged on forever – I’m sure many of you can relate to that feeling!  On top of starting back at work after Christmas, I had an important assignment to do for my Master’s Degree this month, so I spent most of my evenings researching, writing and editing, hence my lack of blog posts.  Luckily, I handed the assignment in yesterday so I’ll have a bit more time on my hands now (although I do have a dissertation proposal to complete…), so expect to see a lot more from me during February!

Hopefully February will be a bit more fun than January has been.  On Sunday my fiancé and I are going to London, just for one night, but we have a lot planned.  I will be taking my camera on the trip so expect a rather photo heavy post when I get back!  Also, Bewitchery turns one year old on the 7th of February, which is very exciting indeed.  The main event in February for me though is my birthday!  On the 14th of February I turn 23, and (fingers crossed) I won’t be working that day, so I am going to spend the next couple of weeks planning fun things to do!  Birthdays for me are mostly about surprises, cake and having a nice time with my loved ones, but I do have a few things on my Birthday Wish List this year, so I thought I would share them with you here…

Dr Martens Grace DeniseDr Martens Grace Denise 8 Big Eye Boots

If you’ve read this post, you’ll know that I’m a Dr Martens fangirl, and I have been lusting after this pair for months now.  I recently noticed that they were in the Schuh sale, so I dropped a massive hint with my dad and I think these babies will be mine in two weeks time!

Layla Hologram Ultra Violet

Layla Hologram Effect Nail Polish

I know I’m extremely late to the hologram polish party, but I really love the look of Layla’s hologram range, especially this Ultra Violet shade.

Real Techniques Core Collection

Real Techniques Core Collection

I’ve been after a decent set of make up brushes for a long, long time (my current set are falling apart), and lots of you lovely beauty bloggers have recommended Real Techniques’ Core Collection.  I’ve done some research, and they really do look like a quality set of brushes, so these are now on my list.  They pass the cruelty free test too!

Real Techniques Eye Set

Real Techniques Starter Set

Because my eyes deserve fabulous brushes too…  And they’re purple!

Kate Bush Tee

Kate Bush T-Shirt

Kate Brush is my hero, and has been since I was tiny, so this t-shirt is perfect for me.  The design is just so pretty!

Sleek Smother

Sleek True Colour Lipstick in Smother

This is one of Sleek’s newest shades in their True Colour Lipstick range.  It’s an extremely pretty pinky purple colour (it’s actually a bit darker in reality than it looks in the picture), and every time I go to Superdrug I can’t resist swatching it on my hand.

Christmas Shopping with TruffleShuffle

2

Christmas isn’t Christmas until those heart-warming, ‘Holidays are Coming’ Coca Cola adverts appear on TV, wouldn’t you agree?  To me, they’ve always signified the start of the festive season and are full of nostalgia, and in my search for Christmassy clothing this year I came across this lovely Coca Cola T-Shirt on the TruffleShuffle website, which I was very kindly gifted by the folks at TruffleShuffle!  TruffleShuffle are an online retro T-Shirt company who stock a myriad of kitsch and quirky designs, and they currently have a fantastic range of Christmas themed T-Shirts, jumpers and gifts available.  Their customer service is fantastic too…  If you order before 4pm you can have your items the next day, and you will always receive a sweet or two in your parcel!

O

The T-Shirt I was sent is the Coca Cola Santa Sparkling Holidays T-Shirt, which retails for £19.99.  The tee is made of soft grey cotton (90%), and it is extremely comfortable and surprisingly warm, as the fabric isn’t too flimsy.  It is from the ladies range so it fits well in all the right places, without being too tight, and it is long in length which is great for me as it doesn’t come up short and I am quite tall!

O

The design on the front of the T-Shirt is absolutely gorgeous, featuring Coca Cola’s vintage-style Santa, merrily enjoying a bottle of Coca Cola…  (Don’t you think Coke tastes so much better from a cold glass bottle?)  Santa in his bright red costume is such an iconic figure, and instantly recognisable as part of Coca Cola’s branding, making this T-Shirt really stand out from the crowd of typical Christmas prints.  The design is also printed to a very high quality, so it won’t start to peel or crack in a hurry, and the image is really bold and clear.

O

This T-Shirt (and the rest of TruffleShuffle’s own range) is available in a wide range of sizes (X Small to X Large), and they’re all currently in stock, so if you fancy a Coca Cola T-Shirt for yourself you can grab one here now, whatever the size!

Just to give you an idea of what else TruffleShuffle has to offer this festive season, here are just a few of my favourite Christmas themed items from TruffleShuffle, which would all make fantastic, affordable Christmas gifts!

Cola Truffle

– Coca Cola Holidays Are Coming Truck Sweater – £29.99 –

Happy shopping!

Naughty Kitty Cupcakes

13

This morning I received a fun little package in the post from Naughty Kitty, who sells ‘Cupcakes with a twist’.  The package contained a cupcake, but not just any cupcake… A naughty cupcake!

I must apologise for the quality of my photographs at this point…  I was so excited about getting into my cupcake (excuse the pun) that I was rather hasty with my photography and failed to realise that the cupcake clashed with the background, but you can still see how wonderfully the cupcakes are presented.  Mine came wrapped in clear cellophane with a red ribbon around the top, but some of Naughty Kitty’s cupcakes are presented in gift boxes or wrapped in tissue paper.

After excitedly unwrapping the cellophane, this is what I found…

As you can see, the cupcake itself is absolutely adorable, and the presentation is lovely!  The luxurious-looking base is made from sturdy card and the ‘cupcake’ is actually a sexy pair of undies.  I really love the attention to detail put into the cupcake, with the frilly edge of the undies layered to look like icing, and the little silk flower on top really is the cherry on the cake.

I couldn’t wait to see what the undies in my cupcake looked like, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality!  I received a frilly pink pair from Next, still with tags on, and they are very, very pretty.

As well as lingerie cupcakes, Naughty Kitty also makes cupcakes using babywear, and all the lingerie and babywear comes in a variety of sizes, so there’s something for everyone!.  As such, they would make brilliant gifts or treats for different occasions.  They would all be ideal for birthdays or christmas, the lingerie cupcakes for Hen nights and Valentine’s Day, and the babywear ones would be perfect for Christenings, or as presents for new mums.

All of Naughty Kitty’s cupcakes cost £5.95 each, plus postage and packaging.  The online shop is still under construction, but if you would like to buy one then visit the Naughty Kitty blog, Facebook Page or Twitter account.

Aren’t they fab?
